Herwig Maurer began his career with classical music training in his home city of Salzburg, Austria, working in major opera productions for the prestigious Salzburg Music Festival. Then experimental sound performance projects and his punk rock band Fast Last Circus led him to study at the Berklee College of Music in Boston.
After moving to the U.S. in the early 90s, he released numerous electronica records on American as well as international labels (R&S, Zoom, Telepathic, Reachin’ Rec, City Of Angels, etc.). His projects Smack3000 and Infocalypse Inc. also found their way into the charts of influ- ential DJs like John Digweed, Carl Cox, etc.
Later on, his electronic and alternative rock music projects were released by numerous major and indie labels (RCA, Sony, Mercury, Edel, etc.). Further music production credits include indie-rock sensation Hypernova and folk artist Simone White.
In the film world he has worked with directors such as Mel Gibson, Denzel Washington and Eli Roth, garnering award nominations both for his work as a film composer and sound designer (Academy Award – Apocalypto).
Herwig's involvement in metaphysical studies and alternative philosophies find expression in his work, and a strong belief in the inherent social function of all art fuels his mission.
